I liked it! Only 800 people attended the match, but I went "Ohh!" and "Arrgh!" and "Yay!" with them and it felt good.
The game was not great, and sometimes unnecessarily rough in the second half. And the referee seemed to hesitate quite a lot and, fom the fans' point of view made some wrong decisions (there was quite a lot of booing after the match ended.)
But it was so interesting! And you could hear the players scream all the time on the field! Totally cool! All that energy! I was very excited. I can't wait to go again.
Also, if I'm ever reborn I would like to be a sporty and cute version of myself and look like Linda Bresonik. She is so awesome.
Link where you can see a short commentary on the match (in German). I'm right behind the Diebels Alt Banner, listening to the massive shouting of Saarbücken's goalie, Barbara Legrand.
Edit: a longer commentary by the DFB
Note: I paid attention - there were a lot of old men in the crowd, but no sexist comments. Nice! I only heard one guy calling the ref "blöde Kuh" - and the offside was admittedly very arguable. And seemingly, one can as well shout "Geh alleine, Maaaaaannnnn!" at female players.
One of the courses I enjoyed most at uni was "information retrieval". I was also quite good at it.
Which translates to "Damnit, that lady knows how to google".
And yes, I do. I don't even think I do use the various search possibilities perfectly. What I like is the intuitive approach towards a question, the combining of phrases and synonyms and the following of a promising trace somewhere.
When I look at a list of found websites, I feel a little like John Nash was portrayed in "A Beautiful Mind" because the relevant things just seem to pop up at me. I can really read those results fast and at a glance and immediately make a decision whether that site is useful or not.
Now, what made me very very happy today was to find this flyer from the International Telecommunication Union.
This information is pure gold because a) the ITU is a united Nations agency (does that not SCREAM reliable?) and b) the information is only 3 weeks old
Ah, I feel accomplished. :D
I know it is a recurring theme for me to be diappointed in people cancelling our dates and it probably sounds very whiny and lame too - but why does it have to keep happening ?
My sister-in-law forgot they were going abroad for the weekend, another friend is very predictably feeling sick and the third one claims that some other friend of hers who lives far away has surprisingly come over and so she'S spending the afternoon with her. Well, thank you for so willingly cancelling our meeting planned weeks in advance.
I've already been crying while vacuuming, I really ought to sptop now.
We're doing our annual "give-away party" - which means you invite all yer girlfriends and let them invite their girlfriends.
Then you meet up somewhere and everyone brings their clothes they don't wear anymore.
You are free to present the best or most hideous items in your collection (everyone raise their glass at the fake leather mini skirt, thank you.)
...and then everyone tries everything on and takes what fits and is liked. The rest goes to charity.
This is going to be so much fun, really. Best thing I'm throwing in are two jackets, (a brown cord dufflecoat!) and a pair of yellow chequered Vans. I'd love to score some new jeans.
(My husband and my brother want to attend a sportsbar while we girls are at it in our flat. We have only two rooms.)
The band was : Tele I've liked them for several years now but never had the chance to see them.
You can watch a cute video of theirs here. Ain't they pretty? I had lots to smile at, really.

My fave song these days is - no surprise, eh? - "Men in love"
Listen to it here and see the lyrics here.
Yay!
Currently reading: The sequel to "Ich, Adrian Mayfield" about which I talked here some time ago.
It is called "Adrian Mayfield - Versuch einer Liebe".
It had taken Adrian's friend, the painter Vincent 500 pages in the last book to kiss our hero and then speak the memorable words "I love you. I'm sorry." Now the second book begins and it seems Adrian has a bright future full of love in front of him. If only Vince weren't the only 28-year-old-virgin around and if only Adrian didn't have to deny that he has been a male prostitute for some time.
Sounds weird? No no no! It is set in Victorian age England, anything goes there! AND there's Oscar Wilde as a character in it....Ah, I've only read 30 pages but I love it already.
And yeah, I'm watching GZSZ for the gay love drama. Life is good. :)
The plot is interesting and the "hero" is of an unusual character, it is not a typical hollywood film by any means. If you're interested, chek out the Wikipedia entries or this one here.
But did I like it? I can't say. I left the cinema feeling a little disturbed - but it may be because I realized again that I can't watch a film which is PG16 without closing my eyes during all scenes that involve physical violence.
(And the stranger who sat two seats away had huge issues with personal hygiene. That somehow ruined the experience, too.)
I decided to just drive on to work, because what was there to do, honestly? - and then stopped after 15 minutes to call my husband, crying.
I'm so tired and nervous and overwhelmed, i'm just waiting for it all to pass. For every quick decision I'm getting right there are three or four I just screw up.
Important meeting abut job cuts tomorrow. Here we go.
On a lighter note: I love this guy here.
Here's the plot of "Tuck everlasting" (according to wikipedia):
Winnifred "Winnie" Foster, fed up with her restrictive, high-class life, flees into a nearby forest where she meets the Tuck family. She finds that by drinking from a magic spring, the Tucks have gained eternal life. As she spends time with the Tucks, she learns that immortality has cursed them with stagnation and isolation. She is offered some of the spring's water by Jesse, the Tuck family's younger son, but eventually refuses. The epilogue reveals that she has grown old and died.
Now, ahem. Does that ring a bell in some way? I'm stunned, even though it should be no surprise that ideas in literature repeat themselves - as anything does.
I've watched the Disney Movie they've made out of it in 2002, but it is predictably sappy in some ways. I'm going to buy the book and read for myself. The looking forward to it makes me happy already.
I don't know if any of you can, but I remember the moment I lernt to read. I remember looking at the page and suddenly something opened itself in my head and the words made sense.
I'm thankful for it.
Well, I traded in some gruesome bed linen that no one in our family wanted and got...ta da...3 DVDs (from different people, of course)
I now own:

Yay me, huh? The second and third are UK imports, which is good because the German sync would be hideous anyway.
If anyone wants to trade those in again after I watched em, I'm taking offers.
There are many more great songs of them. I like their facial expressions.
The following blog shows film stills that concentrate on the interior design and decoration. Nasty wallpapers! Feisty rugs! OMG the lamps!
Teaser:

Warning: Occasionally nekkid danish people with weird haircuts.
Although I do keep track of all the wonderful recommendations I received after my last post - I do have to pay for last winter's heating and the car insurance these next two months and I can't afford buying any new DVDs.
So I watched Northanger Abbey which did not strike me so much as a book - but what a nice little film they made it into! JJ Feild is so very british and he is smiling all the time...just cute!

Tomorrow is my 1st day at work. I'll let y'all know how that went.
Yay! I'm done with my job and have one week off before I need to brush up my business clothes and get on show for my new job.
I'll visit some friends, will go swimming perhaps.... and I will watch loads of movies, I've decided!
I started yesterday with the 2004 BBC-series "North and south"
Aaw, aaw, aaw, what can I say? Mr. Thornton is so very gloomy, who can resist that? And who can resist a lovestory with a headstrong girl in it?
I decided to read the novel because I think Elizabeth Gaskell is really good. I read "Cranford" on our honeymoon - a very enjoyable read, very vivid. It also was well readable without a dictionary for me. I do occasionally read english books with a dictionary, but I prefer it when I don't have to.
Then I watched the 2008 "Brideshead revisited" . Me liked!
It was criticized for being "too gay" - well I have not read the novel, so I can't judge whether it was exceeding the scenes. But I found the one summer the two friends have together rather beautifully played. The actors had good chemistry.
Does anyone want to recommend me a british series (BBC or other) I need to watch?
Don't bother with the Jane Austen stuff though, I've seen all that. :)

....enduring home improvement together.
We scraped off the tapestry in the bathroom, put our old sofas downstairs to be taken away, put up new curtains in the bedroom and I drove to IKEA in the pouring rain.
*tired*
My teacher and I are currently working up some jazz standards, which I enjoy very very much. I post two of them for you to check out.
( Not sung by me, of course.... )
